California’s Governor has signed into law new mandates concerning overtime pay for agricultural workers. Highlights from the new law are as follows:

  • Beginning January 1, 2017, employees who work on the seventh consecutive day of the workweek are to receive time-and-one-half pay for the first eight hours they work and double time pay for any time beyond the eighth hour. This applies to all agricultural employees.
  • Beginning January 1, 2019, agricultural employers with 26 or more employees must provide overtime pay based on the schedule below. (Employers with 25 or less employees will have an additional three years to come into compliance.)
