Per the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule, at least one individual from a farming operation must attend a Produce Safety Alliance grower training course. The University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ Produce Safety Technical Assistance Program helps operations reach PSR compliance and is hosting a PSA Grower Training.
The fee is $50. Registration can be completed online. Walk-in registrations are welcome as well (no cash or checks are accepted).
The course will cover the following topics:
- Produce safety introduction
- Worker health, hygiene and training
- Soil amendments
- Wildlife, domesticated animals and land use
- Agricultural water — production and postharvest water
- Postharvest handling and sanitation
- How to develop a farm food safety plan
Attendees will receive a PSA Grower Manual and a certificate of completion. Lunch and refreshments will be available. For more information, contact Thais Ramos at [email protected] or Ariana Reyes at [email protected].
