FSMA Produce Safety Alliance Training Available

Per the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule, at least one individual from a farming operation must attend a Produce Safety Alliance grower training course. The University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ Produce Safety Technical Assistance Program helps operations reach PSR compliance and is hosting a PSA Grower Training on May 22.

The course will be held from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the San Diego County Farm Bureau located at 420 S. Broadway, Escondido, CA. The fee is $50. Registration can be completed online. Walk-in registrations are welcome as well (no cash or checks are accepted).

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Produce safety introduction
  • Worker health, hygiene and training
  • Soil amendments
  • Wildlife, domesticated animals and land use
  • Agricultural water — production and postharvest water
  • Postharvest handling and sanitation
  • How to develop a farm food safety plan
