The California Avocado Commission will host a grower field day on Thursday, November 13 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Tree Ranch demonstration grove located at 19455 East Telegraph Road, Santa Paula, CA, 93060. Jodi Switzer, Water Program Director with the Farm Bureau of Ventura County, will speak about Irrigation and Nutrient Management Reports (INMR). Starting in 2025, growers were required to have Irrigation and Nutrient Management Plans (INMP) in place for their operation and, beginning in 2026, must submit annual INMRs documenting the information in their INMP. Jodi will help answer all your questions about the ins and outs of these new requirements.
Andre Biscaro, Irrigation and Water Resources Advisor for Ventura County, will discuss the new Avocado Irrigation Calculator that is now available to growers in Ventura County. The calculator was developed with funding from CAC and can be accessed here: https://ucanr-igis.shinyapps.io/irrigation-calc-avo/. Growers are encouraged to take the calculator for a test drive and bring any questions or concerns you may have to the meeting. Andre also will discuss a new project he will be working on in 2026 to develop an improved weather station network to help growers better manage their avocados.
Dr. Danny Klittich, Director of Agronomy for Mission Produce, will present “Tissue Test Interpretation and What to do with the Information.” If you’re one of those growers who religiously collects leaf samples every fall but you’re never quite certain what you are supposed to do with the results Danny will answer all of your questions.
