Industry Alert — Call to Action
The letter from the California Avocado Commission to USDA Secretary Vilsack sets forth our industry’s opposition to the sudden, unilateral decision by USDA to no longer use APHIS inspectors in Mexico to conduct pest inspection of avocado orchards and instead rely on inspectors employed by Mexico’s Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry.
The California Avocado Commission is asking that growers all do the same as soon as possible and copy your members of Congress. You are welcome to restate and expand on comments in the CAC letter and encouraged to focus on the jeopardy that USDA has created for your farm. Also, please contact me if I can assist you at [email protected].
