To assist California avocado growers in ensuring their operation meets the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule, the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources department is offering a two-day online Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training Course that satisfies the FSMA PSR requirement (at least one individual from the farming operation must attend a PSA grower training course). The online course will take place December 11 – 12 from 12:00 – 4:30 p.m. each day.
Please note, to earn certification, the attendee must live/work in California and be present for all course modules. The modules are as follows:
December 11
- Introduction to produce safety
- Worker health, hygiene and training
- Soil amendments
- Wildlife, domesticated animals and land use
December 12
- Agricultural water — production and postharvest water
- Postharvest handling and sanitation
- How to develop a farm food safety plan
The fee for the course is $50 per person. The registration deadline is December 1. Online registration for the course is now available.
