Produce Safety Training

Members of the California avocado industry in need of obtaining produce safety training required by the federal Food Safety Modernization act can obtain low-cost training courtesy of the Food Safety Training Partnership. The fee for the produce safety training sessions is $35 and includes course materials and a certificate.

The produce safety training session will cover the following content:

San Diego County Growers Meeting

The UC Cooperative Extension of San Diego is launching a new series of free grower meetings that will be held on the last Wednesday of each month. The one-hour meetings will focus on current UCCE research as well as other topics of concerns to growers. During the sessions, growers can learn more about what UC Advisors are working on, ask questions and provide suggestions for future topics. The sessions will be organized by UC Advisors Gerry Spinelli and Eric Middleton.

International Technical Course Laurel Wilt of Avocado: Disease Biology, Diagnosis, Management and Economic Impact - Spanish Language Sessions

The University of Florida Tropical Research and Education Center is offering an “International Technical Course Laurel Wilt of Avocado: Disease Biology, Diagnosis, Management and Economic Impact” course that will be delivered entirely in Spanish.  The course will provide basic and applied knowledge concerning the disease complex, research updates, scouting methodologies, and current management practices to control the spread of the disease
