Southern California-based foodservice chains support locally grown and sustainably farmed California avocados

  • May 21, 2024

Since 2018, Flame Broiler, an Asian-inspired chain offering rice bowls and plates using only “good-for-you” ingredients, has leveraged the California avocado season to upsell avocado slices on any dish on the menu. This year, the chain is offering a special free side of California avocado with any entrée from May 7 through June 18.

NORMS, another Southern California-based family-dining restaurant, is bringing back a favorite that launched in 2023, the Cali-Cado Benny featuring fresh California avocados. The Cali-Cado went from a limited time offer special last year to a menu staple this year. The promotion highlighting the Cali-Cado Benny runs May 8 – July 8.

The chains are utilizing their social media platforms and targeting their rewards club members with email blasts to announce that local, sustainable California avocados are on the menus. NORMS also will include a server competition to encourage team members to talk about California avocados to guests.
