New Seminar Focuses on Choosing and Applying Fertilizer in California Avocado Groves
A new seminar, entitled “Get Down – Fertilizers,” will discuss fertilization best practices and how to read water and soil reports for California avocado groves. The event will be held February 15 from 10:00 a.m. – noon at the United Water Conservation District located at 1701 N. Lombard Street, Oxnard, CA. Those who prefer to participate virtually can register for the session on Zoom.
The session will cover:
- How to choose fertilizers
- Best practices for different fertilizer application methods — venturi, water-powered, batch tank, electric-powered, etc.
- Chemical properties of various fertilizers
- How to read and understand water and soil reports
Dr. Danny Klittich, director of agronomy at Mission Produce will present information related to fertilization. Dr. Ben Faber, of the UC Cooperative Extension, will discuss water and soil reports.
The webinar is presented by the California Avocado Society, the California Avocado Commission and the UC Cooperative Extension.
