March Sales and Display Contest Tips Off the California Avocado Season

The California Avocado Commission sponsored a March sales and display contest to tip-off the California avocado season and build excitement around the availability of the fresh fruit. The contest took place at 26 Gelson’s stores from March 17-31. 

To build awareness around the start of the California avocado season, Gelson’s produce managers were encouraged to promote in-season California avocados and guacamole dips for March basketball entertaining. Each participating store submitted photos of their creative California avocado displays to the California Avocado Commission for the opportunity to win prizes.  

By showcasing California avocados early in the season, the Commission helps pique consumer interest in the locally grown crop and build a preference for California over imports.
