Ventura County Accepting SWEEP and HSP Block Grant Applications
The Ventura County Resource Conservation District is now accepting applications for the State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program block grants, as well as the Healthy Soils Program block grants.
Through SWEEP, agricultural operations can receive up to $200,000 for irrigation system projects that conserve water and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Projects may include — but are not limited to:
- Irrigation scheduling technologies
- Improving irrigation system and/or pump efficiency
- Installation of renewable energy assets
- Fuel conversion strategies
- Installing low pressure systems
A complete list of SWEEP projects, as well as instructions for necessary documentation are available online. The SWEEP application also is open online.
HSP grants provide agricultural operations up to $200,000 in reimbursements for implementing practices that improve soil health, help sequester carbon and reduce greenhouse gases. Practices include composting, cover cropping, planting hedgerows, forest buffers and more. Block grant recipients will receive funding as well as technical assistance for the design and implementation of the projects. The HSP application is available online.
