CAC’s Living Well Brand Advocates Pique Consumer Interest with Recipes and Nutrition Information
To increase awareness around the nutritional benefits of California avocados and engage with consumers, the California Avocado Commission taps into the knowledge and experience of registered dietitian nutritionists to share engaging and informative social media posts and recipes. As the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics notes, RDNs remain a major influence in purchasing and recommending products to consumers.
This year the Commission selected three trusted professionals to serve as Living Well Brand Advocate partners. Each of the advocates crafted California avocado recipes around a specific theme during the pre-season. The recipes, paired with helpful nutrition and preparation information, were then shared throughout the spring and summer.
Mascha Davis, MS, RD, created California Avocado Blueberry Pops around a “mindful eating” theme. The recipe was shared as an Instagram reel on her platform, as part of a California Avocado Month Giveaway and as an Instagram story. In keeping with the “beauty from the inside out” theme, Bonnie Taub-Dix, MA, RDN, CDN, shared her California Avocado Better-than-Butter Board on her Instagram and Facebook channels. And focusing on “reducing food waste at home,” Manuel Villacorta, MS, RDN, developed a Warm Chicken Sausage, Veggies and California Avocado recipe that was shared across his various social media channels.
As trusted experts who use their science-based education to help individuals make positive lifestyle choices, CAC’s living well brand advocates play an important role in building demand for and loyalty to the California Avocados brand. The combination of compelling California avocado recipes and informative social posts garnered more than 110,000 impressions this season.
