Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Mentorship Program Launched
The new Expanding Our Roots: Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Mentorship Program will begin accepting enrollments on February 21. The free program is designed for farmers and ranchers with one to 10 years of experience and will pair 200 new farmers/ranchers with mentors who have more than 10 years of experience.
The free mentoring will focus on:
- Market access
- Climate stresses
- Navigating the regulatory system
- Production management
- Business aspects of California agriculture
The program also will host educational workshops that will cover farming regulations and financial incentives such as grants.
Experienced farmers/ranchers also may sign up to serve as mentors. Mentors are financially compensated for providing six hours of mentoring services.
The program is part of the California Bountiful Foundation, which is the research and education nonprofit of the California Farm Bureau. For more information email [email protected] or contact Dr. Amrith Gunasekara, Director of Science and Research, at 916.561.5500.
