Resource Center

Numerous resources are available to California avocado growers in order to assist them in developing and implementing cultural management practices that help them consistently produce high quality avocado harvests.

Avocadosource.com. Free, virtual library of avocado knowledge. This web site is funded and managed by the Hofshi Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the dissemination of avocado knowledge around the globe.

California Avocado Society. The mission of the California Avocado Society (CAS) is to promote efficiency of production and orderly marketing toward assuring long term profitability for the business of avocado growing.  CAS conducts grower seminars and provides a number of tools, including the grower handbook, to aide California growers in improving their production practices.  

University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Farm Advisors. UCCE Farm Advisors extend useful, technical, and economic research-based information to producers in their assigned county or counties. They provide local subject matter leadership and expertise in assigned areas to determine and evaluate clientele problems.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has extended the June 2 deadline for the Emergency Relief Program Phase Two and Pandemic Assistance Revenue Program to July 14. In addition, the USDA Farm Service Agency has partnered with organizations to assist applicants with the ERP and PARP process.

The deadline to apply for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 financial assistance has been extended to March 31, 2023. CFAP 2 is designed to provide producers with financial assistance with increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops program provides specialty crop producers with financial assistance for certain on-farm food safety program expenses. The 2023 application will become available on February 1, 2023.

The CUSP Direct Farmer Grant Program for Drought Relief is accepting applications through January 15, 2023. This program provides relief funds for producers who can demonstrate their operation has been adversely affected by drought and who have not yet received CDFA drought relief funds.
