­­The California Small Agricultural Business Drought and Flood Relief Grant Program awards funds to small agricultural businesses that have experienced a decline in annual gross receipts or profits due to drought or flood conditions. Awards are disbursed up to $100,000.

A new bill signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom will modernize the California Department of Pesticide’s drone certification process. The bill passed with unanimous bipartisan support and should streamline producers’ access to drones for aerial applications and biological treatments.

The University of California Cooperative Extension is offering two-day virtual Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training courses from late September through mid December that satisfy the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule requirement.

The California Avocado Society will host its 108th Annual Meeting on October 14, including informative research sessions, in-field seminars, a barbeque lunch and awards ceremony. The informative session will take place at Brokaw’s Long Canyon Ranch located in Ventura, California.

The Resource Conservation District of San Diego is hosting an Irrigation Efficiency Workshop that will be tailored for producers using drip irrigation systems and provide information concerning how growers can obtain a free irrigation assessment of their farm.
