Food Industry Pro Terry Splane Joins CAC as New VP Marketing
The California Avocado Commission has hired food industry veteran Terry Splane to be the organization’s new vice president of marketing, effective March 13, 2023. Mr. Splane fills the role vacated by Jan DeLyser following her retirement last month.

Hass Avocado Board Nominations and Elections Moving to Online Format
The Hass Avocado Board announced that its 2023 nomination and election process will take place online. Hass avocado producers or importers who are eligible to run for a HAB seat will receive a mailer about the nominations process beginning on March 1.
Growers Encouraged to Complete Farmworker Housing Study
Ventura County, in partnership with the nonprofit House Farm Workers! and all 10 County cities, will soon begin surveying agricultural employers, farmworkers and housing providers as part of its Countywide Farmworker Housing Study and Action Plan. The goal is to identify farmworker housing needs in support of a stable and healthy workforce.
Application Available for 2023 On-farm Food Safety Expenses Assistance
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Certification for Specialty Crops program provides specialty crop producers with financial assistance for certain on-farm food safety program expenses. The 2023 application will become available on February 1, 2023.
